UK distributor New Wave Films has picked up rights to Cannes Competition entry Grisgris from Les Films du Losange and Prix Un Certain Regard winner The Missing Image from Films Distribution.
Mahamat-Saleh Haroun’s drama Grisgris follows a young man with dreams of becoming a dancer in Chad’s capital N’Djamena but who has to join petrol smugglers after his step-father falls ill and medical bills mount up.
Rithy Panh’s The Missing Image is a reconstruction via hand-carved figurines of the director’s book about his childhood during the years of Khmer Rouge control of Cambodia.
New Wave also recently secured Annemarie Jacir’s Palestinian drama When I Saw You, which won the NETPAC award in Berlin.
