TF1 Studios-owned Newen Connect is launching international sales on Denis Imbert’s On The Wandering Paths and Olivier Van Hoofstadt’s The Madness Express at this year’s American Film Market (AFM, November 1-6).
On The Wandering Paths is an adaptation of Sylvain Tesson’s book of the same name and stars Jean Dujardin alongside a cast of local young actors including Jonathan Zaccai, Joséphine Japy and Izïa Higelin. A first look image from the project has also been revealed (see above).
The film is produced by Radar Films. Based on a true story, Dujardin plays a celebrated writer who falls from a building one drunken evening, ends up deep in a coma then wakes up and decides to hike all alone across France. Imbert’s previous films include Vicky And Her Mystery.
Newen Connect is also launching sales on The Madness Express, a French comedy from Coda producers Vendôme Films directed by Olivier Van Hoofstadt and starring Elsa Zylberstein, Artus and Philippe Duquesne. The film follows a railroad ticket controller who embarks on a wild ride through several train cars as he tries to pass an evaluation exam, but must fend off troublemakers, a rival colleague, escaped wildlife and emergency childbirth along the way.
Newen, TF1 integration
Newen Connect, the distribution arm of Newen Studios, has finalised the integration of its sales teams and now operates international film sales under its own brand, replacing that of TF1 Studios.
After the TF1 Group acquired the Paris-based production and distribution company in 2019, Newen Connect, run by Rodolphe Buet, combined the distribution arms of TF1 and Newen.
The company’s international film sales team, lead by Sabine Chemaly, will also be at AFM to show first look images from Funny Birds, an English-language drama about three generations of women that stars Catherine Deneuve and is executive produced by Martin Scorsese.
They will also show first look images from Alibi.com 2, the sequel to the hit 2017 comedy that sold 3.5 million tickets and was released in nearly 100 territories worldwide.
Newen has been expanding its global reach and now boasts more than 50 production companies under its wing in the UK, Germany, Scandinavia, Benelux and Spain. In October, it acquired Nordic Film and TV company Anagram.
