Nicholas Hoult and Lily Collins have wrapped shooting on Fox Searchlight’s Tolkien, the biopic of Lord Of The Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien.
Telling the story of the experiences that inspired Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels, the film also stars Colm Meaney and Derek Jacobi.
Directed by Dome Karukoski (Tom Of Finland), Tolkien is written by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford, whose previous credits include Pride.
Producers are Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and David Ready of Chernin Entertainment, along with Kris Thykier of Archery Pictures.
Director Dome Karukoski commented: “Tolkien’s works teach us that even when we meet an obstacle the size of Smaug, with the support and fighting spirit of incredible friends, we can conquer monsters and create magic.”
The film is being overseen by David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield, Fox Searchlight Pictures co-heads of production and vice president of production Katie Goodson-Thomas.
