The Big Screen Awards returns for the 11th year in 2022 following a two-year hiatus and with a rebrand from the Screen Awards. The awards will focus on the importance of the cinema-going experience post-pandemic and the need to recognise the achievements of all those involved in connecting films to UK audiences.
The event will take place at The Brewery in London on November 24. In recognition of the pandemic’s impact on release strategies, awards will be based on work and achievements for releases within an extended eligibility period of May 17, 2021 (when UK cinemas were allowed to reopen) to September 23, 2022.

The first group of judges on the panel were announced on September 12, including Film4 chairman Daniel Battsek, Joy Productions’ producer Joy Gharoro-Akpojoto, Bankside Films’ head of acquisitions and development Sophie Green, See-Saw Films’ head of marketing and publicity Samantha Joly and actor-producer Ray Panthaki.
There are a number of new awards at this year’s industry awards that will recognise the innovation of the big-screen experience, sustainable practices, new talent and initiatives to improve inclusivity in the industry.
