Paolo Genovese’s The First Day Of My Life, starring Toni Servillo, and now in post-production, has sold widely for Italian sales outfit True Colours, following the European Film Market.
The film has been acquired for Benelux (Paradiso Entertainment), Taiwan (Swallow Wings), Israel (Nachshon), former Yugoslavia (Stars Media), Finland (Future Films) and Portugal (Outsider Pictures).
The First Day Of My Life is an adaptation of Genovese’s novel of the same title. about a group of individuals who meet a stranger, played by Servillo, at the worst moment in their lives. He manages to restore their passion for life by showing them what the world would be like if each was not in it.
True Colours has also sold Mario Martone’s Venice competition film The King Of Laughter, also starring Servillo, to Swiss Cinémateque for Switzerland, and an older Genovese film Superheroes to A Contracorriente Films for Spain. The distributor also bought Blackout Love, the debut feature from Francesca Marino.
Further EFM deals for True Colours include Gabriele Mainetti’s WW2 superhero title Freaks Out (co-sold with Rai Com) to Virtual Cinema/Pumpkin for digital release in China and to Yoda Films foor Spain, while The Legend of The Christmas Witch - The Origins was acqurired by un Distribution for Latin America and to Palace Films for Australia and New Zealand.
