Paramount Pictures has confirmed the appointment of former Annapurna president Marc Weinstock as the studio’s new president of worldwide marketing and distribution.
At the same time, Mary Daily, currently Paramount’s president of international marketing and worldwide home entertainment, has been promoted to co-president, worldwide marketing and distribution and both she and Weinstock will report to Paramount Pictures chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos.
Weinstock’s appointment had been expected since news broke last week that president of worldwide marketing David Sameth was leaving Paramount.
Paramount said the appointments were part of a plan to turn the studio’s marketing and distribution teams into “a streamlined global operation,” with Weinstock and Daily being responsible for the design, development and implementation of all marketing, advertising and distribution strategies for global theatrical releases.
Weinstock left his job as president of Annapurna Pictures last summer. Before Annapurna, he was president of domestic marketing for 20th Century Fox and president of worldwide theatrical marketing at Sony Pictures.
In a statement, Gianopulos described Weinstock as “an incredibly talented and savvy marketer who has been instrumental in many of the most successful and memorable marketing campaigns in recent film history.”
Daily, Gianopulos added, has “an exemplary record in global marketing and, in addition, stellar achievements in the international arena. In just a year, she has completely transformed our international marketing efforts by delivering terrific campaigns that have translated into our box office results.”
