Pathe UK has appointed Faith Penhale, CEO of UK drama production company Lookout Point, as its new managing director.
She replaces Cameron McCracken, who is stepping down as managing director after 23 years, and into the newly-created role of head of film. He will report to Penhale; and will continue to manage the production and distribution of the film slate.
Penhale will start in her role from March 1, 2023, as managing director of Pathe Productions, the UK operation of the Pathe international studio. Her primary focus will be on leading Pathe UK’s expansion into television drama.
Penhale has worked at TV producer Lookout Point for seven years. The company has made shows including Gentlemen Jack, Les Miserables, Happy Valley and War & Peace.
Highlighting the 70 Bafta and 50 Oscar nominations for which Pathe productions have been nominated during McCracken’s tenure, Penhale said, “The opportunity to build on this unparalleled history - to be the most exceptional, talent focussed, proudly independent home for the best storytellers - was irresistible.”
Ardavan Safaee, president, Pathe Films, said that Penhale’s “extraordinary skills and experience will lead Pathe into the world of scripted television - our new primary focus in the UK. Her track record and her will to continue what Cameron has been building for many years, is in perfect alignment with Pathe’s ongoing efforts to be the natural home for the very best talents.”
Pathe UK’s film slate includes Richard Eyre’s Allelujah starring Jennifer Saunders, and Oliver Parker’s The Great Escaper with Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson.
