The Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival (EMIFF) will welcome two-time Oscar winner Paul Haggis to its 6th edition (Oct 26 – Nov 4).
The filmmaker will attend a screening of his film Crash as the festival’s centrepiece gala, where he will receive the ‘Evolution Vision’ award.
Further gala screenings at the festival this year include Sundance hit The Big Sick, Cannes title Thelma and the Spanish premiere of The Song Of Sway Lake with director Ari Gold in attendance.
EMIFF will also host industry-focused panels and seminars, networking events, a drive-in cinema section at the Port Adriano, Q&As, an Art & Cine strand, and a virtual reality zone.
Previous guests at the festival include Emma Suarez and last year’s guest of honour Danny DeVito. In 2016, it attracted more than 4000 attendees from 24 countries.
EMIFF founder and executive director Sandra Seeling Lipski commented: “EMIFF is more than a film festival; it provides a forum for cultural understanding and enriching educational opportunities, focusing on showcasing a diverse collection of both local and international independent films.
The Festival supports the creation and advancement of innovative and artistic cinematic works from both emerging and seasoned filmmakers, and proudly embraces the passion, vision, and independent spirit of these talented artists.”
