Berlin-based sales agent Pluto Film has picked up world sales rights to Czech writer-director Adam Koloman Rybanský’s comedy Somewhere Over The Chemtrails, ahead of its world premiere in the Panorama section of this year’s Berlinale.
Rybanský describes his feature debut, which is also his graduation film from Prague’s prestigious FAMU film school, as “an insight into the universe of a small Czech village and its people. Its inhabitants worry about migrants and Muslims instead of dealing with everyday life problems. Their possible enemy is completely abstract, yet present thanks to media and gossip.”
The film was produced by Prague-based Bratri as a co-production with Czech Television, Studio FAMU, FreeSaM and MagicLab, with financial support from the Czech Film Fund and the Zlin region. Distributor Bontonfilm is planning a theatrical release in Czech and Slovak cinemas later in 2022.
Another new acquisition by Pluto Film is Serbian children’s film How I Learned To Fly by Radivoje Andrić, which will have its market premiere at the virtual EFM on February 10.
