Quentin Tarantino will be the guest of honour at the 2023 edition of the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight sidebar.
US filmmaker Tarantino will present a secret screening on Thursday, May 25, and will give a talk in which he will ‘discuss his counter-history of cinema’.
Tarantino recently published a critical essay on the New Hollywood generation of filmmakers of the 1970s. The Directors’ Fortnight section itself began shortly before this era in 1969.
Tarantino was most recently in Cannes with Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood, which premiered at the 2019 festival. He won the Palme d’Or in 1994 with his second feature Pulp Fiction.
Directors’ Fortnight runs from May 17-26 this year, as the first edition from new general delegate Julien Rejl.
