Raven Banner Entertainment has acquired world rights to CineCoup’s WolfCop and will commence sales in Cannes.
The action horror-comedy was greenlit one year ago at the 2013 Banff World Media Festival and centres on an alcoholic cop who discovers he is a werewolf.
Lowell Dean directed and Bernie Hernando and Hugh Patterson produced the film, set to open in Canada through Cineplex theatres on June 6.
“Raven Banner’s connections and impressive track record securing global distribution for innovative and cutting edge genre films will give WolfCop the edge it deserves,” said CineCoup president of distribution and sales Brad Pelman, who will work directly with Raven Banner in Cannes. “They are the ideal company to be introducing WolfCop to the international marketplace at Cannes.”
Raven Banner managing partners Michael Paszt, James Fler and Andrew T Hunt negotiated the WolfCop deal with Pelman and J Joly of CineCoup Media.
“Lowell and his team leveraged CineCoup’s social web platform to find an international audience for WolfCop,” said Paszt. “Combine that with its horror genre appeal and movie merch potential and WolfCop is an attractive package to many markets.”
The producers orchestrated an Indiegogo campaign to drive international awareness and raise funds to expand the IP.
