Partnerships will equip more than 200 cinema screens with RealD’s 3D technology, including its new LUXE large format auditoriums.
RealD has secured agreements with Cinema Park and Karo Film, two of the largest cinema chains in Russia.
The deal with Cinema Park, Russia’s leading national cinema circuit, will equip up to 200 cinema screens across 18 major cities with RealD’s 3D technology.
Installations have already begun and are expected to be completed within five years.
The companies also plan to install a “LUXE: A RealD Experience” large format auditorium at Cinema Park’s Grand Canyon theatre location in St Petersburg, which is expected to open this winter.
Robert Mayson, managing director of RealD Europe, said: “Russian moviegoers continue to show a real passion for premium quality cinema, and this agreement highlights our commitment to this growing audience.”
Karo Film
RealD has also struck a new deal with Karo Film, building on a previous agreement announced in February.
The pact will see the installation of 10 LUXE auditoriums in Karo Cinemas in key Russian markets including Moscow and St Petersburg, which are expected to open this winter.
The additional eight are expected to be installed at new Karo Film locations across Russia for opening at the end of 2Q 2014. All 10 will feature RealD 3D projection and a RealD Precision White Screen.
“As a leading circuit in the rapidly growing Russian market we strive to offer the very best possible movie-going setting for our filmgoers,” said Paul Heth, CEO of Karo Cinemas.
LUXE was introduced by RealD at CineEurope in June.
RealD opened its first Russian office in September 2012.
RealD 3D is now installed in approximately 23,500 auditoriums by approximately 1,000 exhibitors in 74 countries around the world.
