Former Disney and Participant executive Ricky Strauss has been named head of marketing for the Apple TV+ streaming service.
In his new role, Strauss will lead consumer marketing campaigns, creative advertising, media and promotions for original series and films on the service, which is led by heads of worldwide video Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht.
He will be part of Apple’s Los Angeles-based marketing communications team under vice president Tor Myhren.
Strauss spent nine years at Disney, most recently as president of content and marketing for the Disney+ streaming service and president of programming for Hulu and Disney+.
Before that, he was president of marketing for Walt Disney Studios, working on films including Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Marvel’s The Avengers, Frozen and Moana.
Strauss joined Disney after seven years as president of Participant Media, where he oversaw such films as The Help, An Inconvenient Truth and The Cove.
