Alisha Weir, the breakout star of Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical, has joined the voice cast of Cinema Management Groups’ (CMG) EFM sales title Buffalo Kids.
The $15m animated feature is currently in production and previously secured the voice talents of Gemma Arterton, Sean Bean, and Stephen Graham.
Pedro Solís and Juan Jesus Garcia Galacho “Galo” are co-directing the feature from 4 Cats Pictures and Atresmedia Cine about two orphans from Ireland who sail to New York and embark on an action-packed transcontinental train journey to meet their uncle and settle their inheritance.
Along the way they befriend a governess in charge of another set of orphans and must deal with an attack by a band of outlaws.
Writer-producer Jordi Gasull said, “With Alisha, we couldn’t have found a more perfect match for our nine-year-old Mary in the film. Alisha has all the spirit and headstrong energy we needed for this role.”
Gasull and the Buffalo Kids team and CMG will host a reception on February 19 at the Marriott Café at 6pm to introduce the film to distributors together with Edward Noeltner’s CMG.
Weir will soon be seen in Wicked Little Letters featuring Jessie Buckley and Olivia Colman.
