Evan Rachel Wood, Josh Gad and Anthony Carrigan will star in Alex Winter’s The Adults, on which CAA Media Finance is arranging financing and Rocket Science will launch international sales at the EFM next week.
The feature follows a sister and brother who are barely hanging on in present-day America and whose lives are upended when they discover a body buried in their parent’s basement.
Winter, Scott Kroopf of Many Rivers Productions and Russell Hollander are producing and the executive producers are Connie Tavel. Novellist Michael M.B. Galvin wrote the screenplay.
CAA Media Finance represents US rights.
The project is different from Dustin Guy Defa’s Berlinale selection The Adults starring Michael Cera.
Wood most recently starred in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story and HBO’s Westworld and will next be seen in an adaptation of the Second World War-era book All That I Am alongside Eliza Scanlen, Rufus Sewell and Vanessa Redgrave.
Gad is best known for his voice work as Olaf in Disney’s Frozen and as LeFou in Disney’s Beauty And The Beast. Carrigan is currently nominated for two 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards for his work in HBO’s Barry.
Winter starred Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure and The Lost Boys, before finding acclaim as a documentary filmmaker with features such as Deep Web, Zappa, Showbiz Kids and the narrative feature Fever.
Rocket Science’s EFM slate includes Peter Farrelley’s Ricky Stanicky starring Zac Efron and John Cena, and Michael Gracey’s Better Man.
