Film projects from the Netherlands have been selected for CineMart 2013, including new titles from veteran director Alex van Warmerdam and Kauwboy [pictured] director Boudewijn Koole.
CineMart, the co-production market of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), has selected five films from the Netherlands for presentation to potential co-financiers.
The titles include Dinsdag is een Geluksdag (Tuesday is a Lucky Day), produced by Graniet Film, is from veteran director, writer and actor Alex van Warmerdam. In the film, “a man gets an important assignment that needs to be executed on his birthday”.
Boudewijn Koole, whose first feature Kauwboy is the official Oscar entry from the Netherlands in the Best Foreign Language Film category, returns with Verdwijnen (Disappearance).
Produced by Waterland Film, it centres on a young woman who travels to Sweden to bring her mother important news.
Everything We Always Had Was Now, from director Martijn Maria Smits, centres on a young couple who experience jealousy and rekindled love while looking to sell their apartment. It is produced by Circe Films.
La Holandesa is the second feature from Joost van Ginkel (170 Hz). Scripted by Daan Gielis and produced by Smarthouse Films, it explores a woman’s unfulfilled desire to become a mother.
David Verbeek, whose film R U There was selected in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard in 2010, has lined up a vampire film for his next feature.
Dead and Beautiful follows a group of youngster from Beijing’s elite, who start turning into vampires after a wild night out. It is produced by Lemming Films with co-producers Les Petites Lumieres (France) and China Blue Films (China).
The full line up of the CineMart Selection 2013 will be announced by mid-December. CineMart takes place from Jan 27-30 as part of IFFR, which runs from Jan 23 - Feb 3.
