Emmy-winning Schitt’s Creek co-creator and showrunner Dan Levy will make his feature directing debut on Netflix’s Good Grief with an ensemble including Ruth Negga, Himesh Patel, Luke Evans, and Celia Imrie.
Levy wrote the screenplay and will also star and produce through his Not A Real Production Company, marking the first project under his creative partnership with the streamer.
Good Grief follows Marc Dreyfus, who chose to distract himself from the loss of his mother with a comfortable marriage. However when his husband also dies unexpectedly, Marc is forced to confront the grief he’s suppressed, sending him and his two closest friends on a Parisian weekend of self-discovery.
The cast includes Arnaud Valois, David Bradley, and Jamael Westman. Levy is producing via Not A Real Production Company alongside Megan Zehmer, and Sister’s Stacey Snider, Kate Fenske, and Debra Hayward
Said Levy, “Good Grief is a cautionary tale about friendship and loss and all the mess that comes with it when the truth is something you’ve evaded for most of your life. It’s funny, it’s bittersweet, it’s a project that has helped me work through my own grief. And I hope it does the same for other people as well.”
