Sam Rockwell, Octavia Spencer and Allison Janney will star in The Heart which Nat Faxon and Jim Rash will direct, and Sierra / Affinity will launch at the EFM in Berlin next week.
Faxon and Rash, currently in production on Downhill for Fox Searchlight, wrote the screenplay about a cash-strapped pair (Rockwell and Spencer) who agree to deliver a human heart from New York to Florida, only to learn the recipient is a black market buyer who has illegally bypassed the list of donors.
When they attempt to get the organ to its rightful recipient they incur the wrath of criminals, the greedy buyer, a scorned brother, and a drug-dealing ex-boss.
Kevin Walsh (Manchester By The Sea, All The Money In The World) and Ryan Stowell are producing via The Walsh Company. Principal photography is scheduled to start at the end of the year.
“We are very excited to bring The Heart to the international market not only because we know it is a film with mass appeal, but also since it allows us to collaborate with our longtime friends Nat, Jim, Kevin, and Ryan,” said Jonathan Kier, Sierra/Affinity’s president of sales and distribution.
“Having worked with Nat and Jim on The Way Way Back and both producers on Manchester By The Sea, we have first-hand experience of how they all can brilliantly create an amazing film.”
