Focus Features has scheduled a December 7 limited release in North America for its Saoirse Ronan period drama Mary Queen Of Scots.
The Working Title production had initially been set for November 2.
Ronan, who earned her second lead actress Oscar nod this year for Lady Bird after one for Brooklyn in 2016, stars as the 16th century British monarch.
Oscar-nominated Margot Robbie, Jack Lowden, Joe Alwyn, Gemma Chan, Martin Compston, Ismael Cordova, Brendan Coyle, Ian Hart, Adrian Lester, James McArdle round out the key cast alongside David Tennant, and Guy Pearce
The Donmar Warehouse artistic director Josie Rourke directs from a screenplay by Beau Willimon based on Queen Of Scots: The True Life Of Mary Stuart by John Guy.
The story explores the turbulent life of Mary Stuart, who became queen of France at 16 and was widowed at 18 before she returned to her native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne where the reigning monarch is Elizabeth I.
Mary asserts her claim to the English throne, threatening Elizabeth’s sovereignty as the two courts become mired in intrigue.
Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner are producing with Debra Hayward.
