Olsberg SPI drafted in to examine festival’s effect on Bosnian capital.

Sarajevo

Sarajevo Film Festival has commissioned UK-based creative industries consultancy Olsberg SPI to conduct a study of the festival’s impact on the Bosnian capital.

Founded in 1995, the Sarajevo Film Festival has since grown into the largest film festival in the region, with more than 100,000 audience admissions per year as well as significant industry attendance.

The study will examine the festival’s impact on tourism and social development in Sarajevo and wider Bosnia & Herzegovina, its return on investment, and its role in driving artistic enterprise in the region.

Olsberg SPI will survey attendees and other groups, analyse local data and finances.

The project will be presented tomorrow (Aug 12) at Sarajevo Film Festival’s industry strand CineLink.

Mirsad Purivatra, director of Sarajevo Film Festival, commented: “The impact of creative industries and events on their host cities and regions is a topic of great interest to both us and similar events.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity for our festival to be studied by Olsberg SPI in this research project. It will be very useful for both us and our stakeholders when we plan our future work. “

Olsberg SPI’s clients include the BBC, BFI and Eurimages.
