The upstart Scandinavian Film Distribution (SFD) is kicking off its pan-Nordic distribution operations by hiring four new country managers, working in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
The new country managers are:
Denmark: Christina Müller, who has worked in TV distribution, with non-profits and start-ups. She has worked with BBC Studios, DR International Sales and at WarnerMedia across territories.
Finland: Jojo Uimonen, who has worked in distribution at Sandrew Metronome and SF and as a producer at Dionysos Films and as a board member at independent cinema Kino Tapiola in Espoo.
Norway: Jarle Namtvedt, who previously held positions at Oslo Kinematografer (now Nordisk Film Kino), Sandrew Metronome Norway and Norsk Filmdistribusjon.
Sweden: Anna Jandler, who has more than 20 years of experience in the Swedish and international media and broadcasting industries, including at Columbia TriStar, MTV Networks and Viasat.
The outfit is partnering with local distributors in each country – in Norway with Mer Film, in Sweden with Tri-Art, and with a Finnish partner to be announced soon. In Denmark, SFD will handle its own booking and billing (the company is headquartered in Copenhagen).
SFD’s growing distribution slate has also added Norwegian family film Dancing Queen, produced by Amarcord; Norwegian family story There’s Something In the Barn produced by Kjetil Omberg at 74 Entertainment; and dramedy Hypnosen from Sweden, directed by Ernst De Geer and produced by Mimmi Spång at Garagefilm. All three titles will shoot in 2022.
In mid-2021, the company signed first-look deals with Metafilm in Denmark, 4½ in Norway and Drama Svecia in Sweden.
Titles already announced on their distribution slate include family title The Seekers: A Night Of Thrills; second World War drama War Sailor produced by Mer Film; Kristoffer Borgli’s Sick Of Myself by Oslo Pictures; Swedish family film Mini Zlatan And Uncle Darling; and Finnish title Hit Big by director J-P Valkeapää.
Scandinavian Film Distribution is part of Scandinavian Film Funds, which launched in 2019.
