New Scandinavian production outfit launches at the Cannes Marche.
Avanti Film is a collaboration between Anna Anthony, Anna Croneman and Charlotta Denward and Nordisk Film.
Based in Stockholm, Avanti aims to produce Swedish features and TV drama based on original stories and aimed at a large audience.
The intention is to make €2m-€3m films aimed at the domestic market and larger projects with a better chance of international distribution.
Avanti’s films are likely to be handled in the international marketplace by TrustNordisk.
the company has various projects in development but isn’t yet ready to announce them.
”We have known each other for many years both as colleagues and competitors. To run a production company together is a dream come true but also a challenge in these turbulent times,” said Anthony.
Nordisk Film’s involvement in Avanti comes as the Scandinavian major looks to make further inroads into the Swedish market.
Nordisk Film has distributed and co-produced a range of Swedish films and TV series. Together with the regional film fund Film Väst and the national Swedish broadcaster, SVT.
Anthony has made films since 2000 when produced Josef Fares’s debut feature Jalla! Jalla!.
Croneman’s credits include such TV dramas as The Crown, The Regicide and The Sacrifice.
Charlotta Denward has been head of production at Svensk Filmindustri and head of production and distribution at the Swedish Film Institute. Among the features she has worked on are The Guy in the Grave Next Door, Elina, Micke & Veronica and Gentlemen.
