Anglo-French outfit Anton has secured key theatrical deals on sci-fi drama Vesper, directed by Lithuania’s Kristina Buozyte and France’s Bruno Samper.
The title has signed to Signature (UK), Koch Films (Germany), Leone (Italy), Klockworx (Japan), MovieCloud (Taiwan), Chantier (Turkey), Pris AudioVisuais (Portugal), Filmfinity (South Africa), Shaw Renters (Singapore), T&B Media Global (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar), MCF (ex-Yugoslavia), and Top Films (CIS).
The dystopian drama follows a 13-year-old girl who must use her survival skills to make sure she and her ailing father remain alive after the collapse of the world’s ecosystem. It stars Eddie Marsan, Raffiella Chapman, Rosy McEwen, Richard Brake and Melanie Gaydos.
Vesper was produced by Lithuanian producers Asta Liukaitytė and Daiva Varnaitė-Jovaišienė for Natrix Natrix along with French VFX veteran and producer Alexis Perrin, Benoit Roland’s 10.80 Films in Belgium as well as Paris-based EV.L Prod.
The film received support from the Lithuanian Film Centre, Eurimages, the CNC VFX funds, Wallimage, as well as the Creative Europe Media programme of the European Union, OCS, VOO and Betv, BNP Paribas Fortis Film Finance and Cofiloisirs.
Buozyte and Samper previously worked together on 2012 title Vanishing Waves, which Buozyte directed, and they co-wrote.
