Screen Scotland is offering support of between £3,000 to £50,000 to enable Scottish independent producers to develop projects over the next three-to-six months, as part of a £1m pot – split between TV and film projects.
The £500,000 Film: Single Project Development Funding Route will support the development of single feature film projects across live-action, animation and documentary.
The TV-focused Broadcast: Single Project Development Funding Route has a wide-ranging scope – covering scripted, unscripted and animation ideas for traditional broadcasters and SVoDs. It will prioritise multi-part projects with existing interest from commissioners and which have the potential to return.
Producer fees can comprise 25% of the project’s costs – up to a £5,000 maximum.
Screen Scotland executive director, Isabel Davis, said the organisation is “entirely focused” on safeguarding and sustaining the Scottish film and TV sector.
“This funding will support…high quality, commissionable projects, ready to go into production when the market returns,” said Davis.
The development support follows the launch of the Bridging Bursary Scheme last week, which provides one-off bursaries of £500 to £2,500 to freelance PAYE and self-employed talent who are experiencing financial difficulty due to a loss of income from Covid-19.
