The world premiere of Apple Original Film Selena Gomez: My Mind And Me will open AFI Fest on November 2.
Alek Keshishian directs the film charting the actor and singer’s journey from the heights of superstardom to the lows of a personal crisis and back again.
“I had no interest in making a traditional pop doc,” says Keshishian, who made his directorial debut with the documentary Madonna: Truth Or Dare. “I wanted to show something more authentic and Selena did, too. She has a raw vulnerability that captured me… I had no idea then that it would become a six-year labor of love.”
AFI President and CEO called Gomez “a global force in art and entertainment”. Her film credits include Spring Breakers and the voice cast on the Hotel Transylvania franchise.
Interscope Films and Lighthouse Management & Media served as producers on Selena Gomez: My Mind And Me.
As previously announced Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans will close the 36th AFI Fest which runs November 2-6.
