‘Sudden Outbursts Of Emotion’

Paula Korva’s Finnish comedy-drama Sudden Outbursts Of Emotion won the Best Fiction Project prize at the 2024 Finnish Film Affair, with €3,000 prize from the Finnish Film Foundation.

Sudden Outbursts Of Emotion follows a woman who attends a sex party with her partner in an attempt to reinvigorate their relationship. The feature debut of writer-director Korva is produced by Marko Talli for Finland’s Yellow Film & TV. Currently in post-production, it is aiming for a late 2024/early 2025 premiere.

Sunnivan Eir Tagnvik Kveum’s Nipster won the Best Nordic Project award, with €3,000 prize. It centres on a teenager who finds community when she joins an eco-fascist organisation through a summer camp

Also in post, the film is aiming for a spring 2025 premiere, written by Sarah Olsson and produced by Adam Lunneborg for Sweden’s Carbs Film.

Jussi Sandhu’s But I’m No Influencer, exploring what claims to be the world’s first higher-education programme for social media, received the Best Documentary Project award, with €3,000 prize from AVEK; while Vivian Sade’s Mari, Sweetie received the €2,000 Best Finnish Weird Project award.

The 13th edition of Finnish Film Affair ran from September 25-27 in Helsinki, as a parallel industry event to Helsinki International Film Festival – Love and Anarchy. The awards were presented at an industry event at the Loyly sauna this evening (Thursday, September 26).
