Film, starring Thabo Rametsi [pictured], marks the 35th anniversary of the execution of Solomon Mahlangu.
Principal photography has commenced on Kalushi - The Solomon Mahlangu Story.
Directed by Mandla Walter Dube who wrote the screenplay with Leon Otto, the film marks the 35th anniversary of the execution of Mahlangu.
The film stars the likes of Thabo Rametsi, Thabo Malema and Louw Venter, with Soloman’s brother Lucas Mahlangu serving as cultural advisor to the production.
Walter Ayres produces with Dube, while the film is funded by the National Lottery Distribution Fund for Arts, Culture and Heritage, the Department of Trade & Industry’s Film Incentive Scheme, the Department of Arts and Culture, and the National Film & Video Foundation.
Kalushi will shoot on location in and around Pretoria and Johannesburg for six weeks.
