UK film and TV outfit Fulwell 73 has wrapped production on Simon West’s Boundless, which has been made as a feature-length film and three-part TV series for Amazon Prime Video and Spanish broadcaster RTVE.
Both the feature-length work and series will be released in 2022 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video and Spanish broadcaster RTVE.
Westworld star Rodrigo Santoro and Money Heist’s Alvaro Morte headline the cast.
The project is Fulwell 73’s first foray into international production and is co-produced by Spain’s Elcano with backing from ETB, Canal Sur and Gazprom-Media KIT Group.
Boundless tells the story of the first circumnavigation of the world by explorers Juan Sebastian Elcano and Ferdinand Magellan, who set sail from Spain over 500 years ago.
Leo Pearlman and Heather Greenwood are producing the project for Fulwell 73, in partnership with Miguel Menendez de Zubillaga for Elcano. Fulwell 73’s Patrick Fischer and Richard Kondal will also serve as co-producers.
“This past year our strategy has focused on building a high-quality scripted slate and adding more international productions that can add to our track record in ground-breaking factual and entertainment programming,” said Pearlman.
“Boundless has taken me four years of preparation followed by a year of shooting and post-production,” said West. “That’s two years longer than the actual voyage. With a cast and crew of roughly the same size as our heroes’ expedition we encountered many of the same obstacles; I can easily relate to the epic task they faced.”
Fulwell 73 made its name with sports documentaries including The Class Of ’92 and I Am Bolt, Boundless is Fulwell 73’s latest move into the scripted space, with upcoming releases including Kay Cannon’s Cinderella with Camila Cabello, also for Amazon Prime Video; and Welsh drag queens drama Dragged To Church written by Peter Darney and Eve Myles.
