Joining the long list of events that have been forced online by the Covid-19 pandemic, Singapore’s Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) confirmed today that this year’s edition will be entirely virtual.
The event will take place on the same dates, December 1-4, via a digital platform called ATF ONLINE+, which will encompass a market, conference, networking and speed dating activities. Following the four-day event, the platform will be available until February 28, 2021.
Although Singapore successfully dealt with an outbreak of Covid-19 in foreign workers’ dormitories over the summer, travel into the city state is still restricted, as it is across most of the Asia Pacific region.
“The ATF team has had many candid conversations with our partners over the past few months about proceeding with the market and conference in December 2020,” said the event organisers said in a statement.
“To date, there is still much uncertainty on travel restrictions globally, thus impacting our partners who come from all over the world to attend ATF. After much consideration, and in the best interests of the industry, we have decided to take ATF online in order to facilitate business and networking for our industry.”
ATF usually encompasses a one-day conference and four-day market at the Marina Bay Sands complex in downtown Singapore. Last year the event attracted more than 5,600 buyers and sellers from 55 countries, with keynote speakers including WarnerMedia’s Giorgio Stock, iQiyi founder Gong Yu and Reliance Entertainment CEO Shibasish Sarkar.
The theme of this year’s ATF will be “Prelude to 2021: Be Part of the Conversation” as the event aims to bring the global TV industry together to review a difficult 2020 and look forward to what will hopefully be a stronger 2021.
