The deal was negotiated by Brigitte Suarez of The Match Factory with Eve Gabereau of Soda, which has released all of the US auteur’s previous films, including Meek’s Cutoff and Wendy and Lucy.
Cinedigm picked up North American rights last week and plans a spring 2014 release after director of acquisitions Emily Rothschild brokered the deal with UTA on behalf of the filmmakers.
Night Moves picked up the Grand Prize at the Deauville American Film Festival and showed in the official selection at Toronto. It will be the “Debate Gala” at the London Film Festival in October.
Gabereau said: “We are honoured to have this film, which is not only wonderful, but also redefines the crime-thriller with Reichardt’s voice through a superb cast.”
“It’s so great to be working with Soda again on Kelly’s latest film,” said the producers.
“They’ve done such amazing work releasing all of her previous films, so we know that Night Moves is in very good hands.”
Suarez added: “We are happy to strengthen our relationship with Soda with this film and to continue the one they have with Reichardt’s films.”
