EXCLUSIVE: Films Boutique has racked up a slew of sales for Russian director Alexander Sokurov’s Francofonia, following its world premiere at Venice last week.
The Berlin-based sales agent has now concluded deals for Brazil (Imovision), Canada (Films We Like), Czech Republic & Slovakia (Film Europe), Portugal (Leopardo Filmes), Hungary (Vertigo), Taiwan (Swallow Wings), ex-Yugoslavia (MCF Megacom), Poland (Bomba Films), Korea (Jane&U), Israel (United King), and Bulgaria (Film Vision).
The French-German-Dutch co-production had already been sold to France (Sophie Dulac Distribution), Germany (Piffl Medien), Benelux (Contact Films), Switzerland (Look Now), Japan (Kino Films), and Italy (Academy Two) ahead of its Venice premiere.
Speaking to ScreenDaily, Films Boutique’s CEO Jean-Christophe Simon said that negotiations are underway with distributors in the UK, Spain, Australia, Greece and Argentina.
Francofonia will receive its North American premiere in Toronto’s Masters programme.
