Stuttgart-based family film specialist Sola Media has announced a raft of sales on children’s movie Teddy’s Christmas, a live-action adventure featuring a CGI-animated teddy bear.
The film was produced by Fantefilm, the Norwegian outfit behind disaster movies The North Sea and The Wave. Deals confirmed include to GPI for the Baltic states, Vivarto for Poland, ADS for Hungary and IDEA for Romania.
In the film, a child called Mariann discovers that a teddy bear on the top shelf of the lottery booth at the Christmas market is moving and sniffing. She is determined to win the teddy but the little bear dreams of belonging to a wealthy owner.
Andrea Eckerbom directs Teddy’s Christmas and Thea Benedikt and KarlsenI are the producers. The cast includes Marte Klerck-Nilssen, Jan Gunnar Røise, Mariann Hole, Nader Khademi, Marianne Krogness and Kai Remlov.
Sola Media managing director Solveig Langeland has also given details of ambitious release plans for the film across Europe. Capelight is due to release Teddy’s Christmas on 350 screens in Germany on November 17, with Ascot Elite and Polyfilm releasing on the same date in Switzerland and Austria respectively.
KMBO will release the film in France in 2023, while Nordisk is distributing in Norway.
Other titles on Sola Media’s AFM slate include Florian Sigl’s The Magic Flute, a family adventure fantasy inspired by the Mozart opera that has Roland Emmerich as one of its producers and Constantin and Tobis Film among its backers.
