In addition to the change to Star Wars: Episode IX release date, Disney announced a host of other date shifts and title changes.
On the heels of J.J. Abrams taking over directing duties on Star War: Episode IX, Disney has changed the date of the final instalment of the Starwalker saga from May 24, 2019 to December 20, 2019. The move will likely cause other studios to jump on the Memorial day weekend release that Star Wars has vacated, while avoiding the new December date Star Wars now occupies. The only other release scheduled for Star Wars: Episode IX’s old date is Warner Brothers’ Minecraft.
In addition, the Untitled Disney Fairy Tale project that was scheduled for August 3, 2018 has been designated the Untitled Christopher Robin Project. Guy Ritchie’s live-action take on Aladdin is the new title of the Untitled Disney Fairy Tale that was originally scheduled for December 20, 2019. That film now takes Star Wars: Episode IX’s previous date of May 24, 2019.
Disney also announced Artemis Fowl as the updated title of the previous Untitled Disney Live Action project set to be released on August 9, 2019, while Nicole is the updated title of the previous Untitled Disney Fairy Tale with a release date of November 8, 2019. Magic Camp, previously dated for April 6, 2018, is now unset.
