Anna Marsh has been appointed deputy CEO of French pay-TV powerhouse Canal+ Group.
Marsh joined the group’s film and TV arm Studiocanal in 2008 as VP of international sales and has quickly risen through the ranks.
In 2013, she was promoted to head of international distribution strategy and shortly after to head of international sales. She was named EVP of international distribution in 2017, managing director of Studiocanal UK in March 2019 and CEO of Studiocanal in December 2019. She was appointed to the Canal+ Group’s management board in February of this year.
Marsh has nearly 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry including roles at Marathon Group’s Tele Images Productions and TF1 International before jumping ship to steer Studiocanal through more than a decade of production, distribution and international sales for feature films and TV series. Earlier this year, Studiocanal acquired a majority stake in Dutch FilmWorks in Benelux.
In a statement, Canal+ Group chair and CEO Maxime Saada credited Marsh with giving Studiocanal “a central position within the film and audiovisual industry.” He added: “Anna Marsh is a great professional, and a passionate person, whom the Group is proud to count among its own. This appointment is a new illustration of the confidence Canal+ Group has in her and of her now transversal role within the Group.”
Canal+ Group recently signed distribution deals with Sony and Universal alongside its previous content deals with Fox, Disney, Warner and Paramount and has also struck deals with platforms including Netflix, Disney+ and Starzplay.
