Submarine Entertainment and HanWay Select have teamed up to handle worldwide sales on Toronto documentary Finding Vivian Maier.
John Maloof and Charlie Siskel’s film about Maier, a career nanny whose stash of photographs revealed a previously unknown talent of world-class ability, premieres here on Monday (9).
David Koh and Josh Braun of Submarine Entertainment and HanWay Select director of sales and distribution Fabien Westerhoff negotiated the deal with the producers and director.
Submarine previously licensed US rights to IFC Films/Sundance Selects and Canadian rights to Films We Like.
“Vivian Maier has captured an incredible time and space in American Street photography,” said Westerhoff. “John Maloof and Charlie Siskel reveal a fascinating portrait of one of the last discovered female artist of the 20th century which will inspire audiences worldwide. We are delighted to team up once again with our friends at Submarine and IFC on this new project.”
