Former Warner Bros marketing president Sue Kroll is joining Amazon Studios as the producer-distributor’s head of marketing.
Kroll will oversee global marketing strategy and campaigns for series and films, both direct-to-streaming and theatrical, reporting to Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke.
Film and television projects currently in development at Kroll’s Kroll & Co production company will come to Amazon as first look deals.
As a consultant, Kroll has recently been leading the marketing effort on Amazon’s high profile The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series. She launched Kroll & Co in 2018 after ending her stint as president of worldwide marketing and distribution at Warner Bros Pictures. At Warner, she helped launch releases including Argo, Mad Max: Fury Road, Inception and all the Harry Potter films.
In a note to staff, Salke described Kroll as “widely respected, with deep industry knowledge, extensive experience, and strong relationships with talent and throughout the creative community. She is a seasoned professional, having marketed projects ranging from blockbuster global releases to award-winning niche film and television projects for over 30 years.”
