Producer Helen Ahlsson, whose credits include producing Lisa Langseth’s Pure starring a young Alicia Vikander and executive producing A Man Called Ove, is joining Scandinavian production company Nordic Drama Queens as of September 1.

Ahlsson was previously a producer at Tre Vanner, where she also produced The Fjällbacka Murders, and she most recently worked at the Swedish Film Institute, where she was the head of the new talent initiative Moving Sweden. She was also the Swedish Film Institute’s commissioning editor for international co-productions and Sweden’s representative for Eurimages.

Nordic Drama Queens was launched in September 2021 in Stockholm and Copenhagen by Sandra Harms, Josefine Tengblad and Line Winther Skyum Funch, with backing from Endeavor Content. The company has recently also hired producer Eiffel Mattsson, senior legal counsel Christine Emilie Græsholt and assistant producer Emma Rönn.

“I have worked with Helen on several occasions before and was always impressed by her drive, stubbornness and passion for producing film and TV. After years as commissioning editor at Moving Sweden Helen also has the best possible knowledge on new talent in the industry. That, combined with an extensive experience as a producer, is very unique and something we are thrilled to strengthen the company with,” said Sandra Harms, producer and co-founder, Nordic Drama Queens.

“Josefine, Line, Sandra and the whole team in Stockholm, Copenhagen and LA vibrates of possibilities, ambitions and new ways of thinking. After many years in the greatest film bunker in the world I was longing back to production and the choice of Nordic Drama Queens was an easy one,” added Ahlsson.

Nordic Drama Queens is developing the six-part series Cry Wolf written by The Bridge’s Hans Rosenfeldt and Camilla Ahlgren for TV4/C More.
