Dogwoof inks further deals on Sundance premiere.
UK sales agent Dogwoof has inked a series of deals on its Syria-set feature documentary City Of Ghosts.
The title has sold to Australia and New Zealand (Madman); France (Films Distribution); Italy (Koch Media); Japan (Uplink); Benelux (Periscoop); Poland (Mayfly); Singapore (Anticipate Pictures); Turkey (Filmarti); and Thailand (Documentary Club).
The film previously sold to Amazon Studios / IFC Films for the US, where it was released in July, and Dogwoof released the film itself in the UK recently. NonStop will release in Scandinavia in September.
Following its premiere at Sundance in January, the film picked up the Grand Jury Prize at Sheffield Doc/Fest and the audience award at CPH:DOX.
Screen’s review of the film said that awards attention was “guaranteed”.
Set in the Syrian city of Raqqa, City Of Ghosts depicts a citizen journalist group who banded together after their homeland was taken over by ISIS, risking their lives to uncover and expose the horrors of the ongoing conflict.
Directed and produced by Matthew Heineman, the film was executive produced by Alex Gibney.
Further executive producers include Molly Thompson, Elaine Frontain Bryant, David Fialkow, Stacey Offman, Rob Sharenow and Maiken Baird. It was co-produced by Matthew Hamacheck, Joedan Okun, Maya Seidler, and Juan Camilo Cruz.
