Taiwanese actor Kai Ko’s directorial debut Bad Education, which has received four nominations at the upcoming Golden Horse Awards, is being launched by Harvest 9 Road Entertainment at Busan’s Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM).
Ko, who shot to fame through his role in You’re The Apple Of My Eye, which earned him the best new performer prize at the Golden Horse Awards in 2011, was most recently seen in last year’s Till We Meet Again. Both hit films were directed by novelist-turned-director Giddens Ko who serves as producer and screenwriter for Bad Education.
Another producer is director Midi Z who directed Kai Ko in The Road To Mandalay, which premiered in Venice Days in 2016. The new film is backed by Harvest 9 Road Entertainment, Machi Xcelsior Studios, which produced Till We Meet Again, and Midi Z’s Seashore Image Productions, with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
Bad Education follows three high school students on the night of their graduation. As they are getting drunk, they begin to share the most unspeakable secrets, which go way beyond their imagination. Three emerging actors head the cast: Berant Zhu (We Are Champions), Keng Tsai (Mon Mon Mon Monsters) and Edison Song (My Best Friend’s Breakfast).
The film will premiere at the Golden Horse Film Festival in November. It has received four Golden Horse Awards nominations, including best new director for Kai Ko and best supporting actor for Zhu.
