Neil Maskell’s comedy Klokkenluider and Bill Pohlad’s musical biopic Dreamin’ Wild are among the line-up for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF, September 8-18) Industry Selects programme.
The 10 ”audience friendly” films will be screened in-person to accredited buyers and industry professionals during the festival and are available for worldwide acquisition.
Klokkenluider is the feature directing debut of UK filmmaker and actor Neil Maskell, best known for roles in Kill List and TV series Utopia. Tom Burke and Jenna Coleman star as a whistleblower and his wife who are escorted to a remote safe house in Belgium by two security officers to meet with a journalist. US financier MarVista Entertainment is representing sales on the title alongside Endeavor Content.
Pohlad’s Dreamin’ Wild, about musical duo Donnie and Joe Emmerson, will be premiering at Venice Out Of Competition prior to its TIFF outing. The cast includes Zooey Deschanel, Casey Affleck (who also executive produced) and Noah Jupe. Handling international sales is CAA Media Finance.
Two of the films chosen for Industry Selects, Blue Jean from UK director Georgia Oakley and Steve Buscemi’s The Listener, are having their world premieres at Venice’s Giornate degli Autori (GdA) strand.
Cannes’ Un Certain Regard title Harka from Lotfy Nathan will also screen at the programme.
