Tobias Menzies will take over the role of Prince Philip from Matt Smith in The Crown, Netflix have confirmed.
Menzies will appear in seasons 3 and 4 of the period drama, produced by Left Bank Pictures, alongside Olivia Colman, who replaces Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth.

Menzies’ previous roles include Outlander, Rome, The Terror, Casino Royale and Game Of Thrones.
Helena Bonham Carter will play Princess Margaret, replacing Vanessa Kirby.
The Crown creator Peter Morgan discussed recasting the show’s lead actors after season 2 with Screen last year, saying: “I’ve got strong feelings about how far you can go as an actor, I think you can age ten years younger than they are and ten years older and no more.”
The show has recently been embroiled in a gender pay gap row after it emerged that Claire Foy was paid less than Matt Smith for the first two series.
