‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) has unveiled nominations for its 2023 awards, with box office giants Top Gun: Maverick, Avatar: The Way Of Water and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever among those nominated for best feature.

Other awards favourites like The Banshees Of Inisherin, The Fabelmans and Everything Everywhere All At Once are also in the running.

The PGA picks are often a strong indicator of the titles likely to pick up a best picture nomination at the Oscars. Those nominations will be announced on January 24.

Acclaimed features Women Talking by Sarah Polley and The Woman King by Gina Prince-Bythewood both feature female-dominant producer rosters are missed the cut.

The best animation category sees the producers of Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, Minions: The Rise Of Gru and Turning Red included. PGA also announced nominations in television.

The titles competing for best documentary were announced in December and included Nothing Compares, Descendant and Fire Of Love.

Last year, AppleTV’s Coda delivered a surprise PGA win for best feature, going on to collect the Oscar best picture award the following week.

Final PGA voting will close on February 17 with the winners being announced at the awards ceremony on February 25 at The Beverly Hilton.
