Paramount Pictures to release Bumblebee end of 2018. Filming has begun in California.
Paramount Pictures, in association with Hasbro, has announced it will release Bumblebee on December 21, 2018.
Principal photography has commenced and the film will shoot entirely in the state of California.
On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.
Directed by Travis Knight and written by Christina Hodson, the film stars Hailee Steinfeld, Pamela Adlon, John Cena, Stephen Schneider, and Jorge Lendeborg Jr.
Jason Drucker, Kenneth Choi, Ricardo Hoyos, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow, and Grace Dzienny also star.
Paramount released Transformers: The Last Knight this summer, which went on to gross more than $568.9m worldwide.
Transformers franchise veterans Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Michael Bay produce Bumblebee, while Steven Spielberg, Brian Goldner and Mark Vahradian serve as executive producers. Inception producer Chris Brigham will also serve as an executive producer.
