‘Comandante’

Italy’s True Colours has unveiled sales on a string of its summer festival titles including Venice competition films Lubo and Comandante as well as Locarno world premiere The Beautiful Summer.

Edoardo de Angelis’s WWII drama Comandante, which opened Venice, has secured distribution in Japan with Aya Pro, in Spain with Alfa Pictures, in Portugal with Outsider Films, in former Yugoslavia with Stars Media, in Bulgaria with Beta Film and in Australia/New Zealand with Palace Films. Starring Pierfrancesco Favino, the co-production between Indigo Film, ‘O Groove and Trump Limited with Rai Cinema will be released on appromixately 400 screens in Italy on October 31 by 01 Distribution.

Giorgio Diritti’s Lubo, starring Franz Rogowski, has been picked up for distribution in Spain by Filmin, in Brazil by Imovision, in Portugal by Outsider Film, in Bulgaria by Beta Film, in former Yugoslavia by Stars Media, in Taiwan by Swallow Wings and in Australia by Palace Films. Lubo, produced by Indiana Production and Arancia Film in co-production with the Swiss company Hugofilm, recently played at the BFI London Film Festival and will soon screen in Thessaloniki and Chicago Film Festival, before its Italian release on 250 screens on November 9, also by 01 Distribution.

Laura Luchetti’s The Beautiful Summer, which premiered in the Piazza Grande at Locarno, has also racked up sales. German/Dutch distributor Cinemien has inked a multi-territorial contract for all rights in Germany, Austria, Spain, Benelux, Sweden, Finland, Israel and, for theatrical rights only in Poland. Further sales have closed in Switzerland with Xenix Filmdistribution, Australia and New Zealand with Palace Films, Taiwan with Cineplex, Bulgaria with Beta Film (theatrical only) and HBO Eastern Europe for TV broadcast.

Among other recent True Colours films, a deal has also been struck for Alessandro Bardani’s debut comedy The Best Century Of My Life starring Sergio Castellitto, with HBO Eastern Europe. The film, produced and released in Italy by Lucky Red, was awarded the best film prize at the Giffoni Film Festival in the Generator +18 section.

Meanwhile, teen drama Supernova by Tiziano Russo, produced by Notorious Pictures, has been acquired by Vivarto for distribution in Poland (theatrical only) and by HBO Eastern Europe, while the Argentinian/Spanish comedy and Malaga Film Festival Audience Award Winner, Empieza El Baile by Marina Serezesky, has been sold to Filmo TV in France and Beta Film in Bulgaria.

True Colours will be at AFM this month where it will continue sales on these titles.
