Universal Filmed Entertainment Group has hired longtime Freuds executive Cathy Dunkley as vice president of communications and media relations, based in the UK.
Dunkley served as a consultant to the group (UFEG) in her role at Freuds for 15 years. She has worked with Focus Features and many Universal filmmakers and will continue to support strategic communications around global business initiatives specific to film.
Dunkley wiill take up the role in early April and report to Los Angeles-based EVP communications Evan Langweiler. She will work alongside communications VP’s Ashley Momtaheni and Kendel White.
Dunkley joined Freuds in 2005 after serving as a UK-based senior journalist for The Hollywood Reporter and Variety.
In addition to her work with Universal Pictures International and NBCUniversal, Dunkley has worked with festivals including Berlin, Cannes Sundance, Toronto, Doha and Abu Dhabi.
“Cathy has been an invaluable partner to the film group for more than a decade,” said Langweiler. “Her success in strategic communications across numerous client groups makes her a valuable asset to the global Universal portfolio. As the international media landscape continues to evolve, having a dedicated presence on the ground in the UK provides the studio with the ability to further develop its communications reach.”
