UK releases: The World's End, The Muppets... Again!

The climactic instalment of Edgar Wright’s Cornetto trilogy, The World’s End [pictured], has been brought forward a month to July 19, according to the latest UK release calendar from Rentrak.

Universal will release the film in the UK, having handled the previous two instalments Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz which made $10.2m (£6.7m) and $32.3m (£21.1m), respectively.

Co-written by Wright and Simon Pegg, it will star Pegg alongside Nick Frost, Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan and Rosamund Pike.

The distributor has also pushed back the release of Kick-Ass 2 to Aug 14, effectively swapping places with The World’s End.

Kick-Ass made $18m (£11.8m) in 2010.

Disney has shuffled a couple of its early 2014 slate. The Muppets… Again! has been pushed back a week to March 28, 2014, while Captain America: The Winter Soldier has been brought forward two days to April 2, 2014.

The Muppets made $25.7m (£16.8m) last year and Captain America: The First Avenger grossed $14.5m (£9.5m) in 2011.

Lionsgate will release Lovelace and Filth on Aug 23 and Oct 4 respectively, while pushing back Hummingbird back a month to June 28 and bringing forward The Moth Diaries to May 24.

Meanwhile, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s feature directorial debut Don Jon (formerly Don Jon’s Addiction) will be out on Nov 15 through Warner Bros.

Soda has dated Ulrich Seidl’s Paradise trilogy with Paradise: Love out on June 14, Paradise: Faith on July 5 and Paradise: Hope on Aug 2.

Studio Ghibli’s From Up on Poppy Hill will be released on Aug 2 through StudioCanal, which will also mark the 25th anniversary of Grave of the Fireflies and My Neighbor Totoro with limited re-releases on May 24.
