UK social impact agency Together Films is branching out into sales, with the hire of former Altitude executive Vicki Brown to run Together Films Sales.
The sales division will present films that focus on social impact themes. In her new role of head of acquisitions, sales and distribution, Brown will report to Together Films CEO Sarah Mosses. The duo are looking to acquire titles at Sheffield DocFest later this week.
Brown joins from Altitude Film Sales, where she was director of international sales, working on titles including Rocks, Ali & Ava, Calm With Horses, Diego Maradona and most recently Ed Perkins’ The Princess.
She previously worked at Focus Features International; and was named a Screen Future Leader in 2014.
“We are interested in projects at all stages of production and are seeking stories from passionate filmmakers who want their films to not only spark conversations but also bring about meaningful change,” said Brown. Her goal is “to work closely with filmmakers and [Together Films] to balance commerciality and purpose, and create film campaigns that truly make a difference.”
“As a company we want to broaden what people think of as social impact entertainment; whether that be scripted or unscripted, uplifting, and/or educational,” added Mosses. “We are seeking titles that foreground elements such as women’s rights, environmental justice and immigration reform.
“We aim to lean into people that we really admire to help them distribute content that prods at life’s big questions, and ultimately enables their hard work, their art, to effect positive change.”
Together Films has previous run impact campaigns for titles including For Sama and Unrest; while the current slate includes Becky Hutner’s Fashion Reimagined and Cynthia Lowen’s Roe vs. Wade documentary Battleground, both of which have just launched at Tribeca.
