Universal and Working Title are teaming up with screenwriter Richard Curtis, director Sam Boyd and producer Riva Marker on Untitled New York Christmas Movie for Peacock to star Melissa McCarthy.
The fairy-tale comedy will centre on a workaholic who enlists the help of a genie to win back his family before Christmas.
Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce Untitled New York Christmas Movie with Linden Productions’ Riva Marker.
Universal’s senior EVP of production development Erik Baiers and director of development Christine Sun will oversee the project for the studio, and Alexandra Loewy will do so for Working Title.
Boyd wrote and created the Anna Kendrick rom-com series Love Life for HBO Max.
McCarthy will next be seen in Jerry Seinfeld’s Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story opposite Hugh Grant and Amy Schumer as well as the live-action Little Mermaid from Rob Marshall.
