Lise Romanoff’s Vision Films has acquired Paul Hertzberg’s CineTel Film library and will commences talks with buyers at MIPTV next week and Cannes market in May.
The acquisition, brokered by Peter Graham of 120dB Advisors, marks Vision Film’s first foray into proprietary titles for global sales.
The library contains more than 85 titles, among them The Philadelphia Experiment starring Malcolm McDowell and Michael Paré, Maximum Impact with Danny Trejo and Alexander Nevsky, and Acceleration with Dolph Lundgren and Trejo.
Romanoff said, “CineTel has a treasure trove of quality films that we are eager to share with audiences across the globe. Sci-fi, action, thriller, disaster, horror and even a few holiday movies are globally relevant and desired, the perfect complement to Vision’s existing catalogue.
“I have known Paul Hertzberg for over 30 years and have a great deal of respect for him. I have been looking for the perfect library that will complement our current line of family, faith, romance, and documentary films. I am very excited.”
Eric M. Bernstein, VP international sales for CineTel Films, will join Scott Kamins, international sales & strategic partnerships for Vision Films, for the next two months to assist with the transition.
Sales and VoD distributor Vision Films oversees a library of more than 500 titles.
Hertzberg has led CineTel Films since it was established in 1983. The company produces six to eight films a year including pay-TV specials for HBO, Lifetime, and the SyFy Channel.
