Wes Anderson’s next feature, the period picture The Grand Budapest Hotel has commenced production in Germany.
Anderson, in his role as writer and director, will also produce alongside Scott Rudin, Steven M. Rales and Jeremy Dawson.
An American Empirical Pictures and Indian Paintbrush production and co-production of Studio Babelsberg; Charlie Woebcken, Christoph Fisser and Henning Molfenter from Studio Babelsberg will serve as executive producers.
A subsidiary of Studio Babelsberg AG, Neunzehnte Babelsberg Film, is in place as executive production company. The film will be subsidised by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg in the amount of $600,000 (€450,000).
Principal photography will take place in Germany, with the city of Görlitz acting as the main location with various parts of Saxony and Studio Babelsberg also in use.
Slated cast include Ralph Fiennes, Adrien Brody, Edward Norton, Saoirse Ronan and Jeff Goldblum.
